Terms and Conditions

Our mission at York Mobile Veterinary Services is to work in partnership with you to provide the best care for your furry family members.  We believe in integrative medicine, which consists of a combination of therapies, scientifically validated treatments and complementary treatments such as dietary supplements, rehabilitation, and acupuncture.

Appointments

Please advise us if your pet is nervous with strangers in the home.  We have suggestions on how to lessen the anxiety.  For cats, please keep them in a small room (bathrooms are great!) where they cannot hide when we arrive.

Communication

Communication with us can be done through phone calls, emails or text messaging.  When you register as a client, you are consenting to receiving text messages.  Please let us know if you decline to receive text messages.

Telemedicine

In some cases, we can use telemedicine to assess your pet.  This is ideal for non-urgent cases.  We can provide advice for management at home, prescribe medications or therapeutic diets.  Any prescription medication or diets can be shipped to your home.  If more immediate care is needed, we can discuss further options such as in-home visits or referrals to the emergency facility.

Payments

We accept payment via e-transfer and major credit cards.  Please let us know if you require a treatment plan prior to your consultation.  Payment is expected at the time of the appointment.  In cases of telemedicine, payment for the consult will be done at the time of booking.  You are responsible for payment for any missed appointments (or in cases where your pet cannot be found) or any cancellation within 24hrs.

Extra-label Prescription Medications:

In some cases, your pet may be prescribed an extra-label drug.  This means that the prescribed use of the drug is not in accordance with the label, with regards to species, indications, dose or route of administration.  This includes compounded medications.  The use of these drugs is prescribed based on the considerations of availability of approved veterinary drugs for the specific species, the need for compounded drugs where no approved drug exists, current research and evidence of treatments and considerations of side effects, risks & benefits.  Veterinarians may prescribe drugs as an extra-label  where there is scientific evidence supporting its use in this fashion.  As with any drug use, even those approved by Health Canada, there is a risk of adverse side effects. Please let us know if you have any questions about the use of extra-label medications.

Photo/Name Release:

York Mobile Veterinary Services may ask to use your pet’s name and photographs on their website and social media (FaceBook and Instagram).  Please let us know if you do not consent to this.
